Flight of the Osprey
A Sculptural Relief produced for the new
Rutland Ward, Arnold Lodge;
The East Midlands Centre for Forensic Mental Health , Leicester

The project began with 3 full days of workshops in March 2011, with 4 patients (2 male/2female) participating, two support staff from Arnold Lodge, Jo Bramley supporting from AiM and Halima Cassell leading.

Halima then took inspiration from the patients work to produce a 1ft x 4ft sculptural relief, which was then used to produce 25 resin casts, finished in various blues, greens and whites. Halima said she wanted to use a variety of colours to inform the idea of the bird flying through the sky, over the water and into the trees .

"I chose the bird (Osprey), because it was something that occurred through several of the designs/art work, which the patients created. It was important for me then to reflect on this and the conversations I had with the patients during the sessions and create something which had meaning to them, as well as being exciting for me to work with".
