artists in mind

this uniquely ambitious arts initiative in Rampton Secure Hospital was facilitated by aim trustee John Holt.

Working with Holmfirth sculptor Brendan Hesmondhalgh and Blackburn-based sculptor Halima Cassell, groups of female and male patients participated in two 20-week residencies,  acquiring skills in visual research, drawing and sculpture.

The patients designed and developed work that was then cast to a very high professional standard. The outcome is two major site-specific sculptural works that will enhance the hospital environment for staff, visitors and most importantly patients, enriching the hospital in a permanently uplifting way.
